Metairie, Louisiana – Friday June 5, 2009, 4:30 PM – Diamond Data Systems, LLC. CEO named Chairman of the Stennis-Michoud Aerospace Corridor Alliance

On Friday, May 15 2009 Senator David Vitter along with the Louisiana Department of Economic Development, The Mississippi  Development Authority, NASA and industry leaders have taken a big step toward the improvement of the technological and economic improvement of the Gulf Coast region by forming the Stennis-Michoud Aerospace Corridor Alliance.  This flexible proactive working group is tasked with addressing the infrastructure, workforce, and other areas of improvement to ensure that the Stennis-Michoud corridor is even more attractive for aerospace and related industries.  This group will also help to market the corridor as a national center of excellence in aerospace and related industries on par with Florida, Huntsville and Greater Houston.

Stennis Space Center and the Michoud Assembly Facility are both extremely important to NASA, however, due to their differences in type of work and NASA organizational boundaries, these two centers have not worked cooperatively in the past.  The mission of this group is to leverage these two centers and their close geographic proximity for economic development opportunities.
