Geocent team members have been coordinating verification efforts on the First Stage of the Ares I-X demonstration vehicle at both the project management and technical levels. This effort is the basis for the development of the Ares I manned Flight vehicle, our nation’s replacement for the 30 year old Space Shuttle fleet.

Geocent’s team has been developing ARES I Upper Stage (US) requirements and documentation, laying the foundation of its design. During the design phase all of the interfaces of the US have been coordinated between the US internal subsystems and the external interfaces to the First Stage, Orion capsule, ground launch systems, and the US main engine (J-2X) with assistance from the Geocent team.

US Navy - Meterology and Oceanography (METOC)

Geocent has been supporting the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVO) and the Commander Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC) since 1999. Our support includes the development, deployment and sustainment of numerous METOC systems including the Navy METOC Data Services Framework (NMDSF), Naval Oceanography Portal (NOP), and the Geophysical Fleet Mission Program Library (GFMPL).

In 2005 Geocent, was tasked by CNMOC to enable the distribution of METOC data from a single access point by leveraging Web technologies. In response Geocent developed the Naval Oceanography Portal, a web-based data dissemination system which enables Navy METOC Reachback Centers to provide real-time METOC impact predictions in support of warfighting operations.

Geocent was also tasked by NAVO with the Web enablement of a standalone TDA known as GFMPL. This system participated in the 2003 FORCENet Integrated Prototype Demonstration (IPD) and Trident Warrior 2004 exercises and has received high marks for its architectural design from Ms. Monica Shepherd, director of the Navy’s Task Force Web initiative.

These systems benefit CNMOC and the Navy by providing tactical METOC information and knowledge directly to the warfighter.
