Geocent designs new software to improve public safety procedures for The City of New Orleans

News

On August 9, 2019, the City of New Orleans announced the launch of their new software that is to improve New Orleans public safety procedures. The Geocent team was instrumental in this project, working together with the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD). While the NOPD provided oversight and direction, the Geocent team was able to design, develop, and deploy the new web application and database, CASTNet. The CASTNet database incorporates data from various Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) entities such as the local courts, Sheriff’s office, and the Police & Justice Foundation. Along with other City of New Orleans applications, Geocent maintains CASTNet on a weekly basis.

“With this new software system, users can access information from multiple local and statewide criminal databases with a single query. It also pulls case information from Orleans Parish Criminal District Court & New Orleans Municipal and Traffic Court to provide officers with more complete, timely and accurate information in the field.”- read the full press release written by the City of New Orleans’ Mayor’s office “City Launches New Software Improving Public Safety Procedures”
